End of 3rd Quarter: Rutgers 28, Louisville 14
Louisville looks to rally after Rutgers staked itself to a 28-7 lead:
-Bad 1st drive for Rutgers as Williams loses 4 yards on 1st, and Savage can't connect with Stroud on 3rd (though there was significant contact). Dellaganna will have to put it away.
-Another big pass play by Louisville as Froman connects with Guy and Louisville is inside the 5 yard line. Rutgers is having some significant trouble stopping the pass.
-Louisville is able to punch it in from the 1, and its now 28-14. Rutgers needs to get back some of the intensity that they had during the 1st half.
-Another holding call goes aginst Rutgers, and Savage's pass to Keith Stroud is jarred loose and luckily for RU is not picked off by the Cards.
-You can feel the momentum beginning to turn, and the Knights need something big to happen here. Every stop that Louisville get is giving them more and more confidence, and the execution is not there right now for the Knights.
-3rd and 14, Savage looks for Graves over the middle and overshoots him, and Graves pays for it. He gets absolutely leveled and is down.
-Terrible punt by Dellaganna and Louisville will have decent starting field position at their 35. Rutgers needs a stop here to quell the momentum. If I'm Schiano I bring a ton of heat and give Louisville no time to throw.
-3rd and 5 for Louisville. Big play here for the Rutgers defense, and they call timeout to set themselves.
-On my things to do list: Visit Churchill Downs
-WOW! Viscious hit by Zaire Kitchen over the middle and they're going to call that a "leading with the helmet" hit. He hit him the his shoulder pad. What do they want him to do? I hope the Louisville receiver is ok, but that's a football play, and Kitchen is committed to breaking up that play. I really hope the UL receiver is ok though.
-I've been requested to add some timestamps, so I'll attempt to, even though I'm lazy as hell.
4:44 remaining: Big sack for Rutgers on 2nd and 20. Going to set-up a big 3rd and long.
4:03 remaining: UL dumps it underneath, and Rutgers makes the tackle to force a punting situation. Big stop for the Knights, and they nearly block the punt.
3:32 remaining: Rutgers takes over at the 20 after the UL punt is downed in the endzone. In other news, Cincinatti looking good against Illinois. If I'm a Bearcats fan I'm screaming "Bloody Murder" at the top of my lungs if I go undefeated and don't even sniff the Championship game.
2:38 remaining: The wildcat is no longer working. Sanu for negative yards. 3rd and 5 for the Knights.
1:55 remaining: Savage has all kinds of time....he waits....and waits....and waits.....and is sacked. Gotta get rid of that ball or take off running. Louisville will take over near midfield after the punt.
:17 remaining: Rutgers gets stops on 1st and 2nd down, and a stupid personal foul penalty by UL leaves the Cards with 3rd and 26. The Knights could use a big turnover here.
00:00 remaining: Rutgers makes the stop on 3rd and long. Love the play call there to play base defense and protect the sticks. Froman completes the pass, but is well short of the 1st down.
Louisville has crawled back into this game, and had it's chance to seize the momentum. The Knights have held strong though, and are 15 minutes away from being 8-3.
