Rice, O'Hara Named to Pro Bowl

Rutgers will be represented on both the AFC and NFC teams in the 2010 NFL Pro Bowl,  with the selections of former RU standouts Ray Rice, and Shaun O'Hara.

In only his second season with the Ravens, Rice is on pace to shatter the 2000 yard from scrimmage mark for the year.  Rice is second only to the Titan's Chris Johnson in yards from scrimmage with 1,952 yards thus far.  The Ravens final game is on Sunday against the Raiders, with Baltimore controlling it's on playoff fate.

Rice will join four other Ravens in representing the AFC in the Pro Bowl.  Rice had the following to say about his selection:

"This is such an honor," Rice told BaltimoreRavens.com. "Even though I’m going as an individual, I consider this a team award. I want to thank all my teammates and coaches who have made this possible. Growing up, I dreamed of playing in the NFL, but making the Pro Bowl is surreal.

"I’ve always played the game in hopes of earning other people’s respect, and knowing that the fans, coaches and players voted for me is humbling. I promise to represent the Ravens organization and City of Baltimore by continuing to do nothing but my best."

O'Hara, an offensive lineman with the New York Giants, was voted back to the Pro Bowl for the second consecutive season.  O'Hara was the only Giants player chosen to represent the NFC in the Pro Bowl.

The Giants were eliminated from playoff contention on Sunday after falling to the Carolina Panthers in the last Giants game ever to be played inside the "Old Meadowlands".  Here's O'Hara's take on his selection:

"To be going back again, I am just very blessed and I can't help but think that this reflects more on my unit and the guys around me than me," O'Hara told Giants.com. "I'm excited about it. It's a little excitement in an otherwise sad 48 hours."

"As an offensive lineman, our mentality is you attach your self-worth to the team," O'Hara said. "When you're having an up and down season as a team and you start to get disappointed as a team, you sometimes relay that to yourself. But after last year it was great. I was very excited to participate in it and be acknowledged."

Congratulations to both Rice and O'Hara who have represented Rutgers well in the NFL!
