3 Days Later...

Sorry for the delay on this one folks.  Rutgers has hired a recruiting coordinator in the name of Fred Mariani.

Mariani spent 11 seasons as the head coach at Iona and has also coached at Fordham, Lehigh and Morehead State. He's a New Jersey native.

"To me, this is a dream come true," Mariani said in a statement released by the school. "This is such an exciting opportunity since I am a Jersey guy and Rutgers is our state university. I have great respect for the coaching staff here at Rutgers and I consider Greg Schiano to be one of the top coaches in the nation."

Mariani looks to have strong ties background in the region, and being an NJ guy you know he'll give it his all.

I think this is a smart move by Schiano.  The more he's delegating the work of the football team, the better.  He's a hands on coach and will continue to be heavily involved in everything, but hiring a recruiting coordinator will help ease the work involved by him and the assistant coaches when it comes to recruiting.  Smart move in my book.
