Recruiting Profile - De'Antwan Williams

Ecstatic - thats what comes to mind when I recall reading that 4-star running back out of Woodbridge, VA commited to Rutgers in Mid December.  This came out of left field and more than made up for all purpose back Desmon Scott - who decommitted from Rutgers to stay close to home and play for Duke.  Also, Williams has had offers to Alabama, West Virginia and Virginia and was rumored to head to one of those schools.  Rutgers came on strong and is very much looking forward to adding this explosive and powerful running back to their mix.  At a powerfully built 5-7, many people liken Williams to a young Maurice Jones-Drew which would make for a fantastic change of pace to Kordell Young, Martinek, and Jourdan Brooks.

De'Antwan Williams has the strength to run inside and at this diminutive size, can get lost behind our offensive tackles.  But he also has the explosiveness to run past the secondary and take it to the house.  He has been timed in the high 4.4s and can bench press in the high 300s.  Not only does he remind people of Maurice Jones-Drew, but also of Rutgers legend, Ray Rice.

My father went to Duke, and I love the school.

But why would you choose Duke over Rutgers for football? However, they are on the upswing.
