Dom Natale is RU's QB of the future.....for 1 year....

Just had to throw in some golf terminology with the Masters going on.....Sorry.

Well, as we all expected QB Dom Natale has seperated himself from the rest of the pack for RU's starting QB job.  Natale took all of the snaps with the first team offense during Saturday's scrimmage, and for the first time, Greg Schiano openly endorsed Natale as the man to beat:

"I think Domenic has displayed a better grasp of the system," the Rutgers coach said. "I think he is separating himself from the other two guys right now. But we have another week. Hopefully, D.C. Jefferson and Steve Shimko can gain back on him."

Natale was 7-17 for 49 yards during the scrimmage but didn't make a mistake.  Personally, I'm not looking too much into his relatively low completion rate, and lack of significant yards since the weather in both scrimmages was downright horrendous.  If Natale can efficiently move this team up and down the field, and "manage the game" then he's OK in my book.  The fact that he has the ability to use his legs to make plays is something we haven't seen on a consistent basis from our starting quarterbacks in the past (i.e. the statuesque Teel, Hart, and don't forget Teddy Trump).

The scrimmage also exposed how bad the WR unit really is for this team.  It's become so bad that Schiano is openly looking to his defense to create some offense:

"We've got some options. We may have to utilize some of those options. There may have to be some position changes. We'll see. I've got to really look at it."

And that's not even the worst news:  Tim Brown suffered an undisclosed injury during the scrimmage.  Yikes.

Keith Sargeant presents his observations from the scrimmage here, and like myself he is extremely excited to see what this offensive line can do this season.  I expect a big season from our RB's (especially Martinek) running behind those beasts in the trenches.

What do you think about Natale wearing the bullseye?  What should we do about our WR situation?  Excited for the Spring game?  Let us know in the comments section below....
