Rutgers Fills Out Schedule with Creampuff

Cream_medium

Hey Look:  It's Rutgers Schedule!

The Houston Chronicle blog is reporting that Rutgers University will fill out its non-conference schedule with the Southwestern Athletic Conference's Texas Southern.

The game is reportedly going to take place on September 19th at Rutgers Stadium, though an official statement is not expected to be made until tomorrow.  Rutgers already has a game against Florida International scheduled for that day.

This is absolutey embarrassing for Rutgers.  First of all, it took until 3 days before the Scarlet-White game to complete the schedule.  Secondly, the out-of-conference schedule is an absolute joke:  Howard, Texas Southern, FIU, Army, and Maryland.  That's two D-1A schools, and a perpetually bad service academy.  Yes, FIU and Maryland did go to bowl games last year, but I would hardly consider them worldbeaters, or even "high-quality" opponents.  Rutgers isn't known for playing the most taxing OOC schedules, but this is terrible.  I can't wait to see how they try to spin this one, especially after raising the prices to this seasons games.

Scheduling With a Twist...

This is horrible

Texas Southern and Howard! How can RU be considered for the top 25 polls with those two on the schedule plus Army and FIU! Say the team goes undefeated, its still a dry spot in the mouth because four wins come from those teams!

Maryland did beat RU a few years back though, so I wouldn’t group them with the rest of the bunch.
