'09 Draft Quick Hitters
5 more Knights will join Rice and Leonard in the NFL
Here's some quick facts regarding Rutgers' 2009 draft class:
- Kenny Britt became the 1st Scarlet Knight ever drafted in the 1st Round
- Rutgers had 5 players selected, a new school record. The previous high was 3 in '07 (Leonard, Stephenson, Harris)
- Seattle has now drafted 5 Rutgers players all-time in the draft, the most of any team
- Rutgers had the 2nd most players drafted in the Big East, only Cincinnati had more (6)
- Rutgers had just as many players drafted as Penn State
Am I the only one who thinks this is huge for Rutgers? I remember watching the draft a few years and seeing very few players from the Big East selected. Now Rutgers itself has 5 draftees. Recruits used to worry that they'd never be able to get to the NFL if they went to RU, but now that worry is gone. Over the last 3 years Rutgers has sent 10 players to the NFL, and if offensive lineman Anthony Davis comes out next season, they might have back-to-back first round draft picks.
What did you think about this years draft? Who do you think will be the most successful RU player at the next level? Leave your comments.

Rutgers Drafts
Only 9 schools had more players drafted than RU (USC, Ohio State, Oregon State, South Carolina, Cincy, Georgia, LSU, Missou, and Oregon).
Not too shabby.
