Gotta love the West Coast....

Rutgers must have learned it's lesson from this year's awful looking schedule.  NJO.com's Tom Luicci is reporting that Rutgers is in negotiations with UCLA for a home-and-home series.

We've got to give credit where credit is due, and that credit belongs to new AD Tim Pernetti.  In his short time as AD he's already secured future series against Penn State, Tulane, and Miami.  And now UCLA seems to be on the RU radar.

Pernetti was attending the Fiesta Bowl's Annual Spring Seminar a few weeks ago when he ran into Gamblin' Rick Neuheisel and the ball got rolling:

Pernetti was returning from a morning workout, accompanied by his wife, when he saw UCLA coach Rick Neuheisel having breakfast with his wife. Pernetti, while an executive at CBS College Sports, hired Neuheisel to do announcing when he was between jobs.

"I explained our scheduling situation this year to Rick and how we had to play two 1-AAs and he said, 'Hey, we ought to be talking about playing a game,'" said Pernetti. "I said, 'You're right. We should be.' So I talked to Greg Schiano about it and he was all for it.

"Since then we've exchanged information and we're trying to see if we can work something out."

I'm all for a home-and-home with UCLA.  It would be great exposure for RU to get out to the Left Coast, and would bring a promising, improving Bruins team to the Banks for a match-up that would certainly get national television exposure.  Let's hope that Pernetti can get it done.
